One of the Best Spanish Actors – Antonio Banderas

This is a authentic Review of one of the Best Zorro movies made – The Mask of Zorro, which was filmed in January 1997 at Estudios Churubusco in Mexico City.

I am a great fan of Zorro and watched many movies similar to this one.  But this Classic was outstanding.

Many a young boy’s hero is portrayed by the character of Zorro. Personally I must have watched this movie about four times. This well crafted adventure film had young and old riveted to their seats.

The scene was set against the backdrop of burgeoning California which dated in the early 1800′s.
What was especially noteworthy is that both Antonio and Catherine made the characters their own. Antonio Banderas had such stealth and charm that bowled out everyone watching this eccentric Classic.

Back to the movie – The plot of the Mask of Zorro is similar to movies such as Robin Hood in that there is a well beloved hero that fights for the rights of the poor.

In the case of the Mask of Zorro the Mexican peasants are defended by the masked hero known as Zorro. The action and romance portrayed in this movie is out of this world.  You stay on the edge of your seat at all times.

In brief a long dormant de la Vega (Anthony Hopkins) escapes from prison and plans his revenge on Montero (Stuart Wilson) who took his daughter Elena (Catherine Zeta Jones) from him about 20 years ago. He makes use of Alejandro (Antonio Banderas) to take his revenge against Montero.

Alejandro was a thief who showed great admiration for the old Zorro when still a child. He takes Alejandro under his wing and teaches him to be the next Young Zorro. Do not forget the brilliant shiny black horse Toronado that makes for an excellent must see movie with a total running time of 136 minutes.

Oh! Do not forget the fiery Catherine Zeta Jones that added passion and her own charm that made this movie so special. She oozes fire, zeal and passion like no other and made women very proud of her accomplishments.  She held her own in showing just what women are made of when she did the sword fighting scenes.

Our main aim is to highlight the contribution Antonio made as a well known Spanish actor. His name at birth was Jose Antonio Dominguez Banderas and he was born at Malaga in Spain on the 10 August 1960. He began his acting career at age 19 and starred in many movies. He was the first Spanish actor to portray the character of Zorro.

Antonio certainly is a stylish and charming man that makes women swoon and sometimes even faint.  He is the envy of every man and exudes such confidence unlike any other Spanish actor out there.

To think that the Mask of Zorro encountered some problems when Campbell was hospitalized, which resulted in a temporary set back resulting in a $10 million over budget production.

Nonetheless, the Mask of Zorro was released on July 17, 1998 with great financial success.  The budget was in the region of $96 million but the resulting box office takings spiraled to over $250 million.

The Mask of Zorro is a must see for whoever did not have the chance to see this fantastic box office hit.
